Flow Direction on All PVC Hoses

ContiTech’s PVC hoses ARVAC, ARTRAC, & Mulch/Bark Blower hoses all have directional arrows on them. These PVC hoses with non smooth inner tube (helix) have a “flow direction” arrow similar to that as shown below.

The reason for the arrow is because of the way we construct these 3 hose families. We construct these hoses with a helical ribbon wrapped around a mandrel and as a result, there is a small lip from the ribbon overlap. If the flow direction goes through the hose against the lip, it will be more prone to wear the hose much faster than if the flow is with the directional arrow.

As a reminder, the ARVAC, ARTRAC, & Mulch/Bark Blower hoses are all designed for the “flow” of high abrasion material through the hose. Placing the hose in service using the directional arrows pointing in the direction of flow will help limit wear on the internal helix lip and will help maintain the service life of the these 3 hose families.
