TIP 50 | CONTINENTAL STEAM ENDURANCE TESTING

Continental Steam Endurance Testing

Did you know that Continental Steam Hoses are tested to the most stringent of steam endurance testing?

In absence of National Steam Endurance Test Standard, Continental developed an internal test set up to 1000 hours at 250 psi and 406°F. The test runs a 23 ½ hour steam cycle with a 30 minute cool down period after each cycle. The hoses are inspected regularly over the 1000 hours.

At the conclusion of 1000 hours:

  • No fitting leaks / blisters / etc. are allowed
  • Hose is proof tested at 2,500 psi for 5 minutes, no movement of fittings allowed
  • Hose is burst tested to ARPM requirements of 10:1 design ratio (20:1 for EPDM-20)
  • Hose tube is inspected, no signs of popcorning / cracking / etc.

What this means to our customers:

  • Continental Steam Hoses are thoroughly tested to ensure that we provide a safe, reliable hose assembly for our customers steam applications.
